Researchers at Monash University have developed the low FODMAP diet and a corresponding app to assist in the management of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The Monash University FODMAP diet works by swapping foods high in fermentable carbohydrates (FODMAPs), with low FODMAP alternatives. Around 75% of people with IBS experience symptom relief on a low FODMAP diet.
The app comes directly from the research team at Monash and includes the following:
- General information about the FODMAP diet and IBS.
- Easy to understand tutorials to guide you through the app and the 3-Step FODMAP diet.
- A Food Guide detailing the FODMAP content for hundreds of foods using a simple 'traffic light system'.
- A list of branded products that have been certified by Monash as low FODMAP.
- A collection of over 70 nutritious, low FODMAP recipes.
- Functions that allow you to create your own shopping list and add notes to individual foods
- A Diary that enables you to record food eaten, IBS symptoms, bowel habits and stress levels. The Diary will also guide you through step 2 of the diet - FODMAP reintroduction.
- The ability to adjust units of measurement (metric or imperial) and activate colour blindness assistance.

Monash FODMAP Diet Reviews
Simple and intuitive UX, useful information
Nice app, however I have some comments Device: iPhone 13 Pro (IOS 17.5.1)
Bugs: -Feedback button in the app is not reactive. When I click on it, nothing happens. Features: There are many nice tutorials inside the app but you are missing: -Explanation of logged results, for instance, what do different types of feces indicate? -Recommended guide on how logging must be done. Im free to choose how I will log my results in the diary, however guided logging could be a good addition. Im missing consistency and “right” order in logging: maybe it is a good idea to log state of your gut right after waking up and then again after consuming something? Or, in general, should I log gut condition before and after consumption of certain foods? Etc. -Add more countries and more accurate product lists. I havent seen products mentioned by you in regular grocery shops in Denmark, Germany, Sweden.. I couldnt find Balkan countries in the app. -I have problems with acid production. And sometimes this is the issue for the digestive system. Maybe in the future “product acidity” could be added as a separate indicator to help those who suffer from it too. I apologise in advance for “not very scientific” medical terms but I hope you get my point. Summary: Overall, I enjoy using this app and it helps me to monitor my gut state, plus, to adjust my diet when needed.
Bugs
After last update I can’t login to see my food guide of all the things I’m able to eat
The most important “helper”
This app is the single most important tool I have in dealing with IBS and also IBD.
In the beginning of my LFM-journey I used it several times a day, now two years in I use it a few times a week.
If I were to ask for improvements it would be to add simple information about fibres and perhaps even calories to make it even more useful.
Still lacks functionality
At the moment - several years into development - the app still lacks a lot of functionality from a consumer perspective and lacks many fundamental food types and ingredients, especially for international users.
Dyr app
Appens indhold virker fin. Men for 69kr burde man kunne ændre sproget
Missing a lot of food items
I don't find the app very helpful since a lot of food items are not mentioned. E.g. a lot of different kinds of beans (are green/black canned ones ok?), baking powder (should it be gluten free?), different kinds of flour (can I use millet flour?) and there are not that many recipes, especially not if you are vegan. Considering this I think this app is way too expensive.
