Couchsurfing Travel App

I’m part of the CS network since 5years, probably the most active host in my city. All in a sudden in April 2022 the app did not let me in anymore because it says I should renew my yearly subscription, which I did in December 2021. I contacted the support providing proof of payment and hoping in their help, which after two weeks hasn’t arrived. Result is that I cannot communicate with the guests I was supposed to host this week. Excellent work 👏🏼

This is an amazing app. I had great experiences staying with people also made a lot of friends all around the world. It is safe and easy to use.

Everytime I have tried to use this app it lags to the point that I can’t even use it. What a disappointing waste of a few bucks.

The purpose of couchsurfing was a non capitalist service but since it went paid people left

I was a couch surfer years ago. As I’m planning several long roadtrips, I thought I’d rejoin the community. I paid the $14.99 annual subscription without hesitation. Then the problems began. I’ve tried to verify my email 3 times now - each time I have not received an email from Couchsurfing. I thought I’d verify my identity - last time they charged $1 to your card, then reimbursed it. Now they want $60, with no reimbursement - I declined. I’ve checked out several locations and found thousands of hosts - only to find they’ve not been active for a dozen years or more. When you filter out those with a ‘shared space’ (read-shared bed), and only those accepting guests - then those active in the last few months, your 4,000 hosts quickly reduce to 1 or 2, most often it’s zero. I won’t bother asking for my $ back as they can’t even be bothered to auto-reply to my email for verification. But I did cancel my renewal. The lack of hosts can be attributed to COVID, but the greed and unresponsiveness of those who run this app cannot. Keep the $ - I’ll keep looking for a better, more friendly community for traveling.

I only wish there wasn‘t a 14 day limit for refrences.
