1. Delay before opening your app: A bit of time before choosing if you need to open your distracting app. You can have the wait time increase each time you open your app.
2. Interrupt your scrolling: Check your distracting apps for short periods of time so you don't get sucked in.
3. Set an app goal and optionally block when you reach your limit.
4. Configurable for different days of the week and time by app.
5. Messages like "Is this important" before opening your app.
6. See your screen time for only your distracting apps. Don't worry about Google Maps bloating up your time.
7. Strict block your apps: Either for time ranges, after a certain number of opens or ScreenTime. Strict blocked apps can be hidden from the home screen.
8. Locks on Settings to prevent you from changing your settings when you want to open an app.
9. Breathing and other activities to encourage you not to need to open the app while waiting for it to unlock.
10. Streaks to encourage you not to exceed your limits or override your settings.

ACTUALLY free!
It’s so wonderful to see an app like this that is *actually* free, where the app functions without in-app purchases. There are so many ads for similar apps which promise to help you get off your phone more, but then you can only use that app on one app unless you want fork out $10 a month. It’s absurd and I hate how they prey on consumers who struggle with phone addiction. This app is so refreshing and genuinely helpful! It helps me decrease my screen time for sure. 😊
Thank You
Thank You. You’ve changed my life.
It works!
This app has really helped me to break the unconscious habits I had of opening social media and other distracting apps when I didn’t really need to!
Underbaked. There’s a reason this is free
I really like the concept of this app but it’s not ready for public consumption.
There were weird interactions between this app and the Apple screen time/ downtime functions, the app groups for restriction are easy to set up but also very easy to accidentally delete (no “Are you sure you want to delete the “ message) and there’s no way to name the different groups, they just become ‘App group 1’ and ‘App group 2’ etc.
Had some strange restrictions popping up too even after I disabled the Apple screen time I’d previously been using.
Great idea and beta app but the execution needs work.
Great app. Exactly what I needed.
You can add any app to a group, and on every attempt to open them ScreenZen will ask you to confirm. Very customisable and convenient. Simple interface. Can really help with awareness of mindless social media use. Thanks a lot!
Not working
I can no longer select any apps to put timers on, so it doesn’t work.
screen zen
i really liked the idea of this, however it only worked the first time in clicked into the app, after that it let me click into it like normal. 😐
Started to block my internet after some days
I was liking this app but after some days of usage I noticed that I could not connect to internet anymore . No wifi or data . I had to turn my phone off and then switch back on for internet to work . But then as soon as I opened Instagram , which was connected to screen zen I would loose connection . As soon as I deleted the app from
My phone it was back to normal .
A Godsend!
I am so grateful to the creators for making this app. It is very much eliminating my automatic phone habits and making me more mindful about my phone use, much more successfully than Screentime restrictions. I really appreciate it, thank you!
Really helps reduce screen time !
I’ve been looking for an app that will help me break my bad habits with my phone, that doesn’t require some yearly subscription costing an arm and a leg (& Screen zen is free as of right now). My screen time is waaaayyyy too high for my liking, I’m constantly picking up my phone and clicking whatever’s there- scrolling on YouTube, Instagram, etc. to distract myself, procrastinate, or just when I’m bored.
I love this one because it redirects you to a loading screen where you have to wait a few seconds (and you can customise length, message on screen, etc.) before you can go to the app. It makes you stop and think first without mindlessly starting to doom scroll.
+ It tracks the amount of daily opens for different apps, the times you didn’t open apps, tracks goals, gives tips to reduce screen time etc. So far it has really helped me begin to break my unhealthy habits.
Thank you to the creators ! :)
