Beware of their subscriptions

I subscribed to Headspace for a year, but found it wasn’t that useful to me. The sleep casts just don’t help me sleep. I decided I wasn’t going to renew. Anyway, I see a notification from my bank that Headspace have charged my card again, this time for a much higher amount, so I immediately contact their support. Despite the fact I contacted them within minutes of the charge they refused to cancel the renewal and have been completely unhelpful. The app has potential, but their business practices are frankly unethical.

Meditation doesn’t work for everyone, for me it’s been a nightmare!

I’m sure the App is good and easy to navigate etc. However, for some people, like me, meditation is unsafe. It needs to have clear safety warnings. I only tried the learn to meditate course and have been left with Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder. I was suffering from mental burnout and long Covid and meditation is recommended for both. Having now had meetings with liaison psychiatrists and Neuropsychologists I have learnt I’m certainly not the only one to start having Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder due to meditation. I’m sure that for the vast majority of people it’s beneficial and totally safe, however for a few of us it’s definitely not.

Good to start with until I saw the woke nonsense

Really enjoyed it to start with as a beginner and was happy to pay for the year which I did. I also recommended it to people too if they want to start meditating. After completing the basics and some more advanced courses, and the physical activity ones, it started to become stale and the quality overall became very copy and paste. Seen lots of people switching to new ones like Meditio and Waking up. At this point, I would give it 3/5... I also started to see more, how do I say this? Woke content. From LGBTQA+ to “Acknowledging your privilege” no sorry, I’m not being pandered to. I can’t get behind a company with divisive values like this - there’s a reason why companies like Disney and Target are losing money - take the hint perhaps? Do not get this app if you want a better prolonged experience or/and you are tired of this insane woke ideology that gets pushed on everybody.

content is great, navigation and finding all that great content needs work for an app that is paid... Tried to talk to support about this, it's an AI... asked for human, they will email me back in a few days. It's sad that users seem not to matter these days... at least it's a pretty app, every morning I wake up to see beautiful shapes and colors and some choices AI made for me... just can't make my own choices consciously since their AI is incharge of that...I wish I could get to the nice content easier. Please fix the navigation, i don't need creative and innovative nonesense I'm here to meditate, make my own decisions and use/navigate the app with ease.

Suffering with high levels of Anxiety and insomnia .. found Andy’s voice so relaxing and the app so easy to navigate .. it’s help me massively get though the long sleepless nights with a bit of guidance .. The breathing exercises when Anxiety take hold are great distraction and great at grounding you again.. never meditated in my life now I swear by it .. just taking it day by day but feel I’m getting there .. Thankyou Headspace ☺️

Not what it used to be

A few years ago, I used headspace religiously. It was simple and straight forward to use, but now it feels chaotic. There’s so much content and it’s all thrown together. When trying to find a single practice, I find I’m having to scroll through all the courses. If there was a way of going to single meditations straight away, I wouldn’t know how to find them, it’s really unorganised. It feels like there is too many voices rather than one succinct one. My favourite meditations are still on there, which is great. But I have started using other apps that I don’t feel are as good because they offer an organised, simple approach.

I don’t have the money to be able to afford the monthly subscription on this app so I decided not too. However, is nothing that you can use on this app that is free apart from the intro tutorial. If I am wrong I apologise.
