Airbnb

Have tried to book a couple different properties over the last few months and been able to book because “reservation contains details that may lead to an unauthorized party”. I call customer service to see what this was about and all they could say was their new AI system picks out details that it sees as risks and cancels reservations. Then they email me and tell me they have decided to uphold their decision. I have rented properties multiple times before with no issue from the hosts and meet age restrictions. This is absolutely ridiculous and would not recommended this to anyone.

I tried to leave a bad review for a house and Airbnb sent me an email saying that they could not publish my review. So now I know that they just filter out any bad reviews and that’s why every house has a high review or “super host” status. And their trip insurance that you add on for like 60 dollars or whatever is fake too. Lost 1000$ on a rental and had purchased the trip insurance.

Airbnb has allowed one of their hosts to harass and bully me and my friends for the last several weeks. I’ve called, emailed and messaged Airbnb multiple times and each time they continue to side with the host. They left a negative review about or stay that included outright lies and I have the pictures to prove it. The host refuses to communicate over the app, has multiple listings for the exact same unit, and has a history of harassing their guests and have clearly violated MULTIPLE Airbnb policies. Airbnb has refused to do anything to help. Not only does this platform contribute to high rents and low housing availability but they support aggressive and untrustworthy hosts.

Our credit card was stolen and used at multiple companies. It was cancelled and everything. All of the companies except Airbnb reported them as fraud and refunded our card. Airbnb told us that after an investigation they thought a family member or friend had used our card. This is after I told multiple people at Airbnb that our card was indeed stolen. And that this was one of multiple fraudulent charges. We will go out of our way to never use them ever again. Just know the kind of company you are using when you book with them.

The app is great and works well, and the customer service has been great every time I’ve used it as well!

Not only are the hosts falsifying photos and promises. Now their falsifying CLAIMS & ACCUSATIONS to get more money from the traveler. And Airbnb does absolutely NOTHING about it. Host was not honest, the space was missing amenities. Amenities that I ended up buying them! No help from Airbnb whatsoever. It’s more of a “who complains first wins” type of conflict resolution. Absolutely disgusting way to handle disputes by The Support Ambassador Ruby. And furthermore completely inept team at making sure the space and amenities are actually as portrayed…

To change your password you have to delete the app and get it to send you a password reset link from the web site. Otherwise the reset link sends you to the app without going to a reset page. My wife reserved a house added my sons and forgot to add me as a guest. She went back in to add me and the app won’t let her.

My partner and I got married and decided for a little romantic getaway. When we were in route I messaged the owners that the road was closed if she knew an alternate route. I had to figure it out. Not a big deal right. She stated I was late, when I sent her a message right at 9:00 pm saying we had made it in. Hence the roads were closed and had to find last minute alternative route. Then messaged me at the crack of dawn to say my car would be towed. I assured her I followed the instructions. The place was old and smelly. The bed smelt bad like body odor. The place was not clean. The shower had mold around the shower bed. The sink had an old smelly sponge. The pillows smelled like body odors, the carpet smelled badly like dirty feet. I let the host now we were checking out and no longer staying. We leaft immediately. She began to accuse me, the next day messaging me that I had let her dog off the leash. And began to be rude and called me spam and fake and all these other names. When I presented the issue to air bnb they said it met their standards and that she was a super host, their money maker: needless to say, the trauma of them ruining my honey moon still haunts me. They called me liar and she began to threaten she would write a bad review. I told air bnb they said she is a super host and took pictures that it met standards. Be careful who you book with in Topanga, in California, it is not what she projects it to be. Or how it is posted. Also she removes the bad reviews, as she told me herself. She would delete mine if I posted one.

This company does not actually inspect what they expect, at the same time they will say they do inspect under there minimalist guidelines. We stayed at two properties in the same city and both was a terrible experience. First and foremost you have to understand your host works for the owner of the home even though they may say they are not bias. Remember they get paid as long as the funds are secured. If you have any issues with the stay the host will guide you to cancel the reservation, which will revert to the owner policy as no refund. Do not cancel the reservation or ask host for guidance only go through Airbnb support. First home was located in a very unsafe area (they do not disclosed address until after reservation is complete). It had no hot water, no cable TV and no privacy in one of the bath rooms, so we checked out and booked another home. The second home was extremely disgusting and was not cleaned, but good neighborhood. We ended up spending one day cleaning the home, but it was so filthy we couldn’t get it all. Both hosts did not help out and only made the situation more difficult as in getting my money back. This company does not follow the same rules as when it comes to standard hotel essentials and comfort. They allow owners to regulate their own policies and procedures making each stay inconsistent with the other. If you plan to use this company make sure you read every detail about the home before you book. We ended up staying at a hotel and had a much much much better experience. Never will we be using this service again unless they start doing a better job inspecting the listings and upping their standards.
