If I could give 0 stars I would I recently contacted support about the recent listing that I am in still currently. The cleanliness is not up to airbnb standards. I have been having trouble sleeping through the night, runny nose, nasal congestion, my throat hurts, I have headaches everyday. This was all during a holiday week that I didn’t get to enjoy. I was about to do the laundry one morning and I find build up of dust on the wood above me and I look closer into it and I find MOLD as well as a large amount of dust build up on the filter for the A/C and surrounding area with the H/VAC. It was not a restricted area, no where it stated on the door that it was restricted. This was all connected with washer and dryer area. I found the reason why I have been having so much problems the entire stay. Including the dishes are not cleaned full of coffee stains and water stains. The kettle is filled with dust and water stains with dust on top of the kettle. There are dirty sponges left from the pervious guest. The floors weren’t cleaned, I wiped water off the floor and I found black stuff on the rag. The shower weren’t clean before I got there, there was a hair on the hook from previous guest. The description says “full kitchen” and it is not. Both pots have scratches all in it as well as one doesn’t have a handle, there’s no pot holders in the unit (safety issue). The host should meet high standard of cleanliness and he violates the standards. I was trying to get out the entire stay and get a refund. Your airbnb “support” wasn’t helping me at all. You all subjected me to stay in a unit where I was having problems with and continued to extend the time of how long I was there for. I am very disappointed with airbnb and it makes me not even want to use the app due to this problem.
Had an issue with a host harassing me nonstop regarding a 3 star review I gave her and the cabin I rented. The bathroom smelt, turns out the toilet came off its base according to the host and that’s what was causing the smell. They advised body wash, hair wash etc. mean while the second I opened the little bar of soap from the packaging it fell apart. The host knew check in was at 3, I arrived at 6 to a cold cabin… in NYS in November… I booked to 2 nights, stayed 1. Left first thing in the morning… really was going to let it go until the host was harassing me even 2 weeks after my stay regarding how she bought a new tv during Black Friday because I complained about the extremely small tv they had because the couch was clear across the room and was so hard to see. Eventually she continued to send me more messages regarding the 3 star review I left her… air b&b refused to refund me, they did absolutely nothing, I couldn’t even block the host after reporting the harassing messages. Back to hotels I go!
As a host of 7 years on Airbnb I absolutely despise the lack of customer service available to hosts. The representatives of Airbnb are extremely lazy and do not do their due diligence when reviewing damage claims. Also, some guests have terrible reviews and are still allowed to use the platform. I had a guest leave holes in my walls, doors and even left KNIFE STABS in my door (I think it was a domestic violence incident) and Airbnb gave ZERO $0 reimbursement. This is one of many incidents that I can recall like this. Airbnb is supposed to have insurance for all hosts (that we pay for) and it’s a SCAM.
I’m disappointed in airbnb customer service because I recently booked a home that was listed as not having cameras - to which I have screenshots and a video screen recording of the listing when I booked it- but when I showed up there was cameras at the home, which it is against Airbnb policy to have a listing that says no cameras and upon arrival there are cameras. The host went and changed the listing after I confronted him and he wrote in the listing there are cameras so i have been trying to get a refund from airbnb because I left and they said I would be getting a refund but so far I have not got one, because of the host changing his listing after I confronted him. Even though I have screen recordings on the listing that specifically say no cameras. So if you use this app and there are cameras , don’t be surprised if they don’t do anything about it Update : this host then claimed I broke a tv supposedly worth $1500 which a simple google search showed it to be worth $300 and airbnb found me fully responsible and I requested a police investigation be done or take it to a professional to show I didn’t break it and they wouldn’t do that and just took all the money from my account when i repeatedly said I didn’t do that, didn’t even use the tv! I will never again use airbnb and i recommend the same for everyone else. This happened in San Diego CA.
Not the funny kind just a joke. The fees turn stays into unaffordable nightmares. The restrictions and rules at the properties make what should be a comfortable and convenient trip into a stressful and painful experience.
The app seems good, until you search for a property. You pick location and dates and number of guests, but then there's an icon bar across the top for "treehouse", "Arctic", "Historic House", etc except that just "any house" isn't on that very long list. I don't want be forced to hunt for a place in one category and then the next and then the next ... I just want ANY type of house for the given area and dates. So the app is a complete failure. Just use the web site which is much easier and more user friendly than this app.
Our host canceled our reservation we made 6 months in advance for "repairs" only 6 days before our trip. Airbnb support provided no assistance in finding a new rental on such short notice and even ended my support chat early with no resolution or explanation. We already have flights and our rental car booked that are both nonrefundable. We are traveling to Vancouver for the Eras tour and expressed concern that our host was relisting to price gouge with the rest of the website now that they are aware of the tour (which is strictly against Airbnb policy) but support did not care. All rentals and hotels in the area are well over double the price we originally booked due to the high demand around the eras tour being less than a week away at this point. Airbnb should honor our reservation and pay the difference for our having to find a new RELIABLE HOTEL reservation. So disappointing and will never book an airbnb again, if I could give 0 stars I would.
I have used this app for yrs and found all my places to stsy. Now because my phone is “to old” i cant use it anymore. Looks like vrbo is my new app
In may 2024, i stayed in medellin and my airbnb got broken into in the middle of the night with recorded footage of the incident. More than 5k of computers were stolen from me. We gad a police report. We started a claim with my lawyer to airbnb’s theft protection. Our claim was denied by airbnb. Beware : you are not insured of theft Too bad, airbnb has made my life so much better
