Description

How We Feel is a free app created by scientists, designers, engineers, and therapists to help people better understand their emotions and find strategies to help them navigate their emotions in the moment. Conceived in conjunction with Yale University's Center for Emotional Intelligence and based on the work of Dr Marc Brackett, How We Feel helps people find the right word to describe how they feel while tracking their sleep, exercise, and health trends using HealthKit in order to spot patterns over time.

Founded as a science-based nonprofit, How We Feel is made possible by donations from people who are passionate about bringing mental wellbeing to the widest possible audience. Our data privacy terms are clear and easy-to-understand: all of your data is kept on your device unless you opt-in to send an anonymized version of your check-ins to be used in research to help more people.

Whether you are downloading this app in order to build better relationships, make your emotions to work for you, not against you, improve how you handle stress and anxiety or simply to feel better, How We Feel will help you identify patterns through daily HealthKit tracking and find emotional regulation strategies that will work for you. The How We Feel friends feature allows you to share how you feel with the people you trust most in real time, strengthening your most important relationships.

Filled with step-by-step video strategies you can do in as little as one minute on themes like "Change Your Thinking" to help you address negative thought patterns with cognitive strategies; "Move Your Body" to express and release emotions through movement strategies;"Be Mindful" to gain perspective and minimize the negative impact of misunderstood emotions with mindfulness strategies; "Reach Out" to build intimacy and trust, two important tools for emotional wellbeing, with social strategies.

One of the best app

Stephen Job on

This helped me appreciate my time, and my life. It keeps me grounded. Get this app and you’ll know what I mean. Kudos to its developers!

If ur a student i recommend this!!!

I don’t usually leave reviews for apps, but this app deserves it because it has helped me understand my feelings in a more logical yet compassionate perspective! I’m a teenager girl (that info was probably irrelevant to some of y’all lol) and at this age, it’s hard to communicate my emotions, but this app really helped me with putting a word to what I actually feel — other journaling apps that tracks your mood isn’t really helpful because of how black and white the way they describe emotions (it’s probably mostly popular because of the aesthetics ngl). This app really emphasizes on being specific with your words which is super helpful! And the way they ACTUALLY give solutions to your emotional problems (of course it doesn’t work all the time but it beats me having to research on how to feel better in qoura or reddit😭)

One of the most important apps in my phone but…

Antonius Apollo on

My most important app in my phone is my meditation app and this is the second one. Everything is perfect and promoting self awareness but just a few suggestions to improve: - Search button, where I can type a word or phrases “I met Lara and she told me she..” and that will bring my previous entry. That is useful if one needs to recall properly an experience but forgot the details and what he or felt at that moment in the past. This is not only an app that makes you more emotional intelligent but a beautiful record of ones life or a private detail journal in my phone. - Maybe if you havent added one yet: a month and year review? I love the week in review of the past week available every new Monday morning so it would be natural I would love also a monthly review or year in review. I am not sure if that would make things too complicated to summarize in all but I think all of us would really yo see that happen Anyways, Cheers for the company or group of people who made this app and made it entirely free Cheers, and Stay Frosty.

Simple but effective

rixaya on

I struggle with making daily entries and logging in things, but the How We Feel app is so simple but effective. The app is very user-friendly, engaging, and so wonderfully designed which makes me even more motivated to check in and log my feelings. My favorite thing about this app and how it differs from any other mood tracking app I’ve tried is how it allows you to specify the emotion you’re feeling. That way, I get to understand my emotions much better. Presenting the emotions on a matrix instead of a scale shifts the way I see them. Instead of rating how I feel as bad-ok-good, there’s much more thought and depth to them and reinforces the idea that all emotions are okay.

and thank you!

Thank you for this app.

This app is almost perfect. I hope we get to see a lockscreen widget— which shows our current feeling, or it can be motivational quotes.

Almost perfect!

I really love this app. It's so easy to use and it has a lot of cool features that I really enjoy. One thing that would make this perfect is if I could export my data. It would be great to be able to track my mood over time without having to keep the app open on my phone, or even have a way to look back at past entries. I keep a lot of spreadsheets to track my moods and symptoms—not just because I'm a nerd, but because it helps me notice patterns in my mental health. It helps me see what's going on when I start to feel a little off.

Best App for Tracking My Moods

mitchiefish on

As someone who’s suffered from ADHD, a great deal of Anxiety and Depression, this app is the best I found when it comes to tracking my moods, and the details linked to them. I am able to establish or see patterns in my feelings, and pinpoint exactly what I’m feeling. I used to default to thinking I was cranky due to boredom, but in reality, I think that was just what my brain was used to. Now, thinking about how I really feel has helped me understand myself better beyond my mental illness!
