YNAB Reviews

Not woth the money in Europe

JRDRKV on

Slovakia

No support for EU banks that are supported with other competitors like Banktivity or MoneyWiz or even MoneyPro. But the price is same for US and EU so You are getting half of the app for same huge premium price.(Probably the most expensive app in personal finance management). iOS app is so so OK for iPhone but definitely not good enough for iPad (missing reports are biggest fail). On Mac there is no standalone app, only web app. So my advice is to usr only if you have supported bank. Otherwise not worth the money even if the concept of budgeting here is really excellent.

Top web app - totally bed iOS app

Miro11118 on

I'm tested multiple apps for home budgeting and finance. Ynab is the most controversial of all. From all apps I tested ynab have best web app version but absolutely catastrophic iPhone app. This iPhone app is total flop and it's really useless. There is no single report, extremely bed design and user interface is worse than any other app I have. Ynab is great but if you need also mobile app this is the worst opinion I found on App Store. I give 5 star for web app but -1000 for iOS app.

Account connections required third party - doesn’t work and risky

SteivesJobs on

United States

After putting in all of my information and agreeing to the shady terms of service from Plaid - none of my accounts can connect (despite having successful logins within YNAB). YNAB then links to a bunch of troubleshooting articles that are difficult to navigate and none of them address these issues. Now they and their third party services collected my credentials and my personal info while delivering zero of the promised service in this shady app.

Couldn’t connect any of my accounts

Poncheche on

I was excited to try the app because of all the good reviews and got a free trial. However, I run into an error every time I try to connect my accounts. Thanks for a free trial, but I could not even make the app work as it should…

Doesn’t Work Half The Time

The Wikid Podcast on

United States

This app for tracking your finances was useful at first, but as time went on regular transactions started to forget their categories and then transaction information stopped entirely. We now have to manually check every single transaction and categorize it ourselves. I don't suspect we'll keep using this with the price increase to $109.00/yr it's just too much work. Highly recommend you check other apps out before YNAB.

Outage for over 1 month

edavie on

United States

I have been a true YNAB fan & customer for 10 years and have recommended it to many friends. For an entire month my transactions have been down, I pay for the year so for an entire month I am not getting my money’s worth. Use every dollar, they have better transactions and are able to do without transactions for free.

This app was great until…

Knmacneil on

I’ve been using this app for several months now. It’s a fantastic way to budget funds, once you get past the learning curve. It USED to be a decent expense tracker, but a few weeks ago, it started hitting some snags. The app no longer stays connected to my bank account, forcing me to log in each time I want to update expenses. The log in time seems to take longer each time, too. It says “this may take a few seconds,” but it’s more like 5 minutes (I timed it). And even then, it STILL doesn’t pull recent transactions or deposits. I have several transactions that posted (not pending) to my account yesterday, that will not show in the app. So now I have to wait several hours for YNAB to disconnect from my bank, login again, and hopefully those transactions will show. Hardly an efficient system for maintaining expenses on a daily basis. Contacting support did not yield a solution.

This app taught me to budget

I’ve been using YNAB for over a decade, because it works. Follow their method, stick with it, and you will end up more financially stable than you started.

Love this app

This app has saved me so much. Can’t recommend it enough.

The best money mgmt tool

cjkff22 on

United States

Between myself and my spouse, we had tried everything. Microsoft money. Mint. Excel spreadsheets. This tool has been the only thing that has allowed us to save and plan for the big routine expenses the medium ones and the instances where we go over budget every month here or there sometimes due to things outside our control. We would both tell anyone who asks that we have more money in savings and checking then we ever otherwise would’ve had just based on saving for things that we need years into the future. We bought a used minivan with cash during Covid. We still have bills. We still have long-term debt and a mortgage. This doesn’t change those basics, but it really allows you a bigger view of everything you have and everything that is flowing out so that you can make decisions. We freaking love the software-both the app on our phone and the computer version. The customer service is flawless and kind and responsive . It has honestly resolved everything we used to argue about with planning for routine annual expenses, Christmas, shopping, etc. and in adopting this, we’ve actually traded roles. I used to be the one who worried and told my spouse no. Now he can see the numbers for himself and he’s the one looking at how much we have left in various categories throughout the month. Meaning I’m not the bad guy anymore.
