How much does You Need A Budget cost?
You Need A Budget has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is $179.00.
I’m based in Australia and I have a highly variable income from one month to the next.
YNAB does not sync with Australian bank account feeds, but that doesn’t matter really. Doing manual entry of transactions everyday uncovers any thoughtless or emotional expenses and helps us appreciate our income.
The magic is in giving every dollar a job, and making those choices over and over again.
I’d encourage anyone who is stressed about inflation, mortgage rates, unpredictable employment or messy bills to slow down and try YNAB.
Invest the time in learning YNAB’s approach through podcasts, videos and blogs.
Yes, I still sometimes have anxiety about my financial future, as a solo mum with three kids and some tricky financial obligations.
But I completely agree with Jesse Mecham when he says the anxiety of awareness is a much healthier feeling than the anxiety of hiding from the truth.
I love this app, but learning about how you spend = your values is the magic.
Too many layout changes
Love the overall concept of YNAB and have been using for a few years. The constant changes to the app UI without any explanation is getting annoying. In particular UI changes to the clear, multi select, spacing between rows.
Love it but expensive when you can’t link
Love the product but expensive when you you can’t link bank accounts really should offer discount when they don’t provide the full functionality inna country so feel a bit ripped off on that score

Good for specific people
I downloaded this app and tried to set it up, but it doesn’t allow for fortnightly bills/payments, only monthly or weekly. Being in Australia I also couldn’t sync with my bank account here. Probably a good app if you live in America and get paid monthly or weekly.
Thanks for listening
I left a poor review previously for a bad UI change and this was reverted. Thanks for listening to your customers.
This app is back to the max stars it can get.
No support for Amex in Australia

Unnecessary UI Changes
The most recent release made UI changes hiding cleared / uncleared transactions from the main view and changing how we can select transactions. These changes adds extra steps to my workflow it’s frustrating enough for me to start considering other options for budgeting.
Focus on fixing or introducing NEW capabilities don’t change what isn’t broken!
Not for Australians
This app does not accommodate Australian bank accounts despite claiming it does, you will only be aware of this once you’ve spent a couple of hours setting up a budget. Do not recommend
Fortnightly budgeting needed
Have started setting up as I’ve read so many great reviews on using YNAB, especially for those of us with ADHD…. But I’m finding it so hard to set up bills that are paid fortnightly. There’s only a custom option for months not weeks
